PCV (PSV) Driver training - CAT D

Take your practical test at our own private test centre. Free use of vehicle for 1 retest if you're unlucky. Full driver cpc training available.

PSV/PCV (CAT D)  Before you can get on with your PCV bus driver training you will need to hold a provisional PCV (CAT D)  licence.  The first job is to have a medical. If you are local (ish) to us you can have your medical at our training centre on a Saturday morning. The fee is £75. Please call to arrange. The forms you will need will be waiting for you when you arrive. If you are going to use your own doctor, ask us to send you the forms. Either way, the medical form, licence application and car licence will then go to Swansea for your provisional entitlement to be added. You will normally receive your CAT D  provisional licence within a few days; you should then call us to arrange your PCV theory training and test. The theory training takes place in our new climate controlled, purpose built training centre and your theory test will be arranged at a centre to suit you. The pass rate for those following this route is almost 100%. The "Starter Pack" includes your medical, online theory training, classroom theory training and both theory tests arranged at a test centre local to you. Total cost of the whole package is £255. TIP: if you're confident, study online only for the theory tests and save £90. The cost of the Starter Pack without the theory training day is only £165!

At the same time you may wish to reserve dates for your bus driver training course. This will normally be arranged to start a couple of weeks after your theory test. The course is normally 20 hours duration with the test taken during the last couple of hours.

All our training is conducted on a 1 to 1 basis so you get individual tuition with no cab sharing as is the norm.

Practical PCV tests are taken at our own test centre at Mansfield Woodhouse. This was the very first private test centre in the UK; it has to be better to train and test here rather than a busy city. We have a large number of prebooked tests to minimise waiting time.

Our training vehicle is a Dennis Javelin. It's 10 metres long - so it's big enough to be interesting without being too much of a handfull! In common with all our vehicles, it's well maintained and easy to drive.

Pete has been in the coaching industry since his teens. (No one dare ask exactly how long that is!!) But with well over 30 years instructional experience on buses and coaches, it's doubtfull that you will find anyone with more abilitly and experience to get you through your test.
